Held at least every two years, this highly interactive event is a platform to share the latest science, spark new ideas for research and management, and identify topics for future grant competitions and fellowship projects. The Symposium is also a fantastic opportunity for scientists, students, and resource managers to connect and learn about monitoring infrastructure, funding opportunities and fellowships offered by the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.

2025 Symposium: Restoration Science
The 2025 Research Symposium was held on November 5 and focused on the theme of Restoration Science. The agenda included a terrific lineup of 5 and 10 minute talks focused on the science and practice restoration in the Great Bay Estuary and the NH coastal watershed. 2024 Symposium: Innovations in Monitoring
Held in January, this event explored a diverse suite of monitoring and analytical approaches used in and around Great Bay. Together, participants identified datasets to support their work and met potential collaborators. Recordings of the presentations and summary products can be found here.
2022 Symposium: Ecological Communities of Great Bay
Held in October 2022, this inaugural Symposium focused on the primary tidal habitats of Great Bay—salt marshes, seagrasses, and oysters. A summary of the event and brainstorming activities can be found here.
Science to Management Workshops
The Great Bay Reserve regularly hosts small workshops to foster learning and collaboration around timely coastal management issues. We also facilitate, lead, and support collaborative science projects that address knowledge gaps and advance the management of Great Bay’s waters and lands.
