Crommet Creek

The Crommet Creek Conservation Area protects 2,514 acres of natural lands in the Great Bay watershed. Weaving through it all is the four-mile Sweet Trail, which offers an excellent hike, interpretative panels, a freshwater wetland overlook, and if you’re lucky, a glimpse of the beavers that thrive in this area. There’s a visitor access point on Dame Road in Newmarket where you can enter the Sweet Trail, enjoy an all-access pathway to a deck overlooking a freshwater wetland, and learn about the citizen movement that helped save this part of Durham from becoming the site of an oil refinery.  Learn more about this property from the Passport ot Great Bay, Crommet Creek pages here.

Leashed dogs are allowed.  No bikes, camping, campfires, or removal of plants.  Please carry out all your trash.  Have fun!
